About our Archived Version
In August 2008, FictionAddiction.NET launched a completely new redesign to celebrate its 7th year on the Internet. Unfortunately, Internet Explorer 6's outdated handling and security vulnerabilities just didn't make it a feasible choice to move forward with all of the new features our site has to offer. In fact, Internet Explorer 6 was released just one month before FictionAddiction.NET went live in 2001!
While other Web sites are simply ignoring IE6 users and making their sites inaccessible, we've always liked to be different. We weren't about to keep our guests from visiting simply because of their browser version.
We started by investigating our Web stats for our old design. Our statistics show the number of IE6 and below users that visit FictionAddiction.NET has dropped significantly every single month over the past year.
A very small portion of FictionAddiction.NET's guests, only a couple of hundred of people out of hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world each month, use Internet Explorer 6 and below. But we weren't about to turn our backs on them.
Even though this number is a very small amount of guests compared to how many people visit the site, we decide to create a complete mirror site of FictionAddiction.NET. This allows anyone with IE6 or below to see most of the content FictionAddiction.NET has to offer.
What's on the mirror site?
Don't worry. You're still able to view seven years worth of content accumulated on FictionAddiction.NET, including book reviews, our message boards, the Writers Showcase and articles.
What's on the new site?
Everything! The new site contains all of our content since 2001, plus writing workshop specials, sneak peeks at books, new articles, the latest publishing industry news, writing prompts, updated links to writing-related sites, bestseller lists, our newsletter archive and so much more.
What About Other Browsers?
We've tested our design on more than 50 browser versions, types and multiple operating systems. Out of six weeks of testing every single page we were able to verify no other browsers were affected. You will be able to view the new look of FictionAddiction.NET.
What's Next?
We plan on keeping our mirror site up for at least a year. After that, we will revisit our Web stats to see if any of our visitors are still using IE6 or below. The mirror site will remain live until IE6 drops off our stats completely.
