PC Magazine Kills Print Edition Print

PC Magazine After 27 years in print, PC Magazine will become an online-only magazine. The publication has watched its circulation decrease since the late 90s. The numbers have gone from 1.2 million in the 90s to 600,000 this year.

Now PC Magazine is getting most of its profit from its PCMag.com Web site. About 80 percent of PC Magazine's profit is now coming from the site.

Ziff Davis Media, the magazine's publisher, says PC Magazine will be profitable in 2008 but the 2009 outlook was too bleak to continue. Fewer sales of print ads and rising publishing costs contributed to the decision.

The January 2009 issue will mark the final in-print edition.
